West Coast eyewear brand Garrett Leight California Optical introduces another collaborative capsule with New York designer Mark McNairy. Inspired by Speedy Thompson, a legendary Nascar pioneer and his favorite Grand National driver, McNairy created the ‘Monroe’—named after Thompson’s hometown in North Carolina. The frame’s heavier silhouette and bold design pays homage to the classic P3 eyewear — an eye-catching shape that makes a statement.
This new collaborative effort by GLCO and Mark McNairy is an exciting one for both designers. “Mark represents the inner child in me and maybe in everyone,” says Leight. “He does and says what he wants and I have a ton of respect for that. With this collaboration we can take liberties that allow us to have fun, and most importantly to learn something about America and real Americans. I’m thrilled to be working with him once again.”
The limited-edition frame will be available late October at fine retailers worldwide and online.
