Not since 1993’s Tombstone has a western film really captured our attention, but leave it up to Quintin Tarantino and he’ll change all that in an instant. In his new big screen adventure The Hateful 8, set a few years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter and his fugitive, race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring said fugitive to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers, a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and, a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, they seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. The film stars Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tim Roth.
