So you finally built up enough courage to ask her out, survived the preliminary dates and now it’s time to invite her back to the crib. Creating a first impression is something you only get once, so before you give her the grand tour of the casa, here are some key essential/optional items every man should consider having at the home(or apartment), to officially seal the deal.

1. Show Her Your Green Thumb

Nothing makes a house a home like having a few plants sprinkled around the pad. Besides purifying and improving the air quality in your house, plants are great at giving off positive vibes while creating a restful ambiance in the room. Having plants divulges a lot about your character and speaks volumes to how responsible you are. The great thing about plants is it’s like having a pet in a sense, without the hassle of having to walk it, name it and clean up after it.

Of course, we’re not saying that you have to have a garden saturated with roses, but having a few plants around the house does show that you are a caring individual who is able to take care of another life form. That’s a trait that all women are looking for when it comes to choosing a partner.

2. Bring Out The Picasso

There’s something about having a great piece of art in the room that really creates a smooth aesthetic flow. Having artwork in your house is important because it’s a form of expression and it’s a reflection of your style and personality, but more importantly-it conveys that you value and revere culture. Being open to culture is a great personality trait because it reveals that you’re diverse and open to explore different ideas and philosophies.

Besides looking radiant, it can really spark great conversation-especially if you have an anecdote about how you acquired the piece or know the origins behind it; if you don’t, just simply fabricate one and use verbosity to express how extravagant the art piece is. To get your collection started, check-out your local thrift stores for hidden gems, local galleries and even sites like Etsy can help on your search without cleaning your wallet.

3. Get You A Bundle of Grapes

You know the old saying, “you are what you eat”, well the same rules apply when it comes to what you drink-so lose the keg and Red Bull and upgrade your drink selection. Now if you’re in your mid 20’s, having a six pack in the refrigerator isn’t a sin but having solely beer is.

Most women don’t really have a strong urge for beer like most men, so wine is the perfect complement because it goes perfect with anything and it will also help set the mood. Now for extra swag points you can go out and research a bottle ahead of time to match perfectly with your meal prep. If it’s your first time popping open a bottle, we recommend getting Moscato. It’s a light sparkling wine, which goes great with brunch or dinner and is made from one of the Muscat grapes around Assisi in northern Italy.

Perfect wine choice for beginners, Moscato is the safest bet if you’re not sure what type of wine your date prefers. As we end this piece, we hope this guide will lead you to a night filled with great memories and endless hours of laughter. And if it doesn’t, well at-least your pad looks cool. Remember to wear cologne, open doors and always tip your waiter. Good night!
