2014 marks the 50th Anniversary for California footwear brand SeaVees, and to celebrate, they’re kicking things off with the Legend Series. Over the course of the year, the brand will team up with select legends (and legends-in-the-making) to create limited edition items that embody the spirit of SeaVees and the authentic era of 1960s California. Born in 1964, SeaVees was a pioneer of authentic California lifestyle, defining the youthful spirit of the Golden State in its golden age. But after seven years the brand was shuttered, the icon buried. The brand would lay dormant for nearly 40 years before being rediscovered in a vintage store in Tokyo. Brought back to its rightful birthplace, SeaVees is resurrected, re-envisioned, each style is derived from an influential date in 1960’s California culture with an insistence of product authenticity and integrity. Embracing an era of optimism and discovery, SeaVees is living its own version of the California dream. Starting off the Legend Series, surfboard shaper Renny Yater has made a one-of-a-kind long-board which will be up for auction on ebay beginning on February 19th, with all proceeds going to benefit the Santa Barbara Cancer Center.
